cover grid additional info

I find the new cover grid view really wonderful,
and was wondering if it is possible to have some additional info on it.
From what I saw, sometimes books are marked with a small green "V" icon (dunno why); moreover, mouse hover gives you the book author & title. So there is a bit of space for adding some info.

For my tastes, I'd like very much to see the rating in stars - but maybe it is already there hidden in the preferences, and I didnt see it?

The green v is a tick and it indicates the presence of the book on the connected device. You can also have the title below the cover, see preferences->look & Feel->cover grid. It's on my todo list to make the field displayed below the cover configurable, but for the moment it is title only.

Seeing a lot of requests for additional marking in Grid view:

Would this be doable?

Add a Colored Border around the images using the same idea that you use for coloring fields (Preferences:Look and Feel:column coloring)

Code:

Set the color of Gridborder to Green if the following conditions is met:
If the Read column is true

colored borders are already used for search highlighting in the grid view. At some point I will add the ability to apply custom emblems to the covers based on rules like the custom column icon rules.

Whilst I don't use the cover grid much, I would prefer that the 'emblems' not be put onto the cover images, they can get lost - e.g. orange pin on a sunset image - or they can obscure the title, author etc if they are placed on the image itself.

Attachment is from the image manager I use (iMatch) - the 'emblems' can be turned on and off by clicking them, and the rating can be set in the 'usual way'. And because they are outside the image the emblems are small.

I dislike having emblems outside the images, it means that every image uses lots of blank space, whether it has emblems or not. It may be workable if all emblems are placed along one side of the image only, I will have to investigate.

The sample had an oversized grid cell for the thumbnail size, normally I'd have the cell just a little bigger than the thumbnail size (300px). The thumbnails and grid cell size can be sized independently - I don't think that is needed for calibre.

I'd rather have the emblems (icons in iMatch lingo) above the image and any words under the image. Another reason I don't like showing them on the cover is that some covers come with 'emblems and icons' already emblazoned on them, eg Pulitzer medals

One idea that came to my mind was the ability to show column icons in the cover grid, I find them very useful in the library list as indicators
