Question Where to buy

I'm a long time Kindle user, 3 kindles I have owned and now I want to try the Kobo Auda HD.
I'm having a hard time finding where to buy it. As living in Asia, the official KOBO pages is such a jerk by checking my ip then refuse me. Google is not helping much, it's showing me option in Canada (bestbuy) and I want to get it from the State.
I found it on Amazon, but the price is too high, as I have read that it's priced at 169.99$ insteald of over 190$ on amazon.
Please help to point out a few website in the State which I can take a look. Thanks much!

Hi,
Yes, I did check in ebay. when you do search -arc, less than 10 return result and most of them are from Italia. I can't afford double shipping from Italia to Us then from US to my place

Don't know if this page will open from your location or not, but if it does you can put in a US zipcode and get a list of stores that sell Kobo's in that area. Not all will carry the Aura HD though, if I had to guess most of them don't. It can be a lot of work checking as it doesn't give you a link to the store websites or anything so they have to be individually Googled and checked.

Here is one store I know some folks here got the Aura HD from back when it first came out. I know nothing about them other than that...

Greenlight bookstore has them listed, but whether they have them in stock will require an email or a phone call.

I've thought about buying the Kobo Aura HD from that site, but am uncertain that if something is not quite to my liking (I'm talking manufacturing defects here), that returning it for a replacement might result in a heart attack due to frustration.

I have no experience with that particular site, but folks I know that have gotten Kobo's from other indie stores have all been told to go directly to Kobo for any after sale support.

And therein, unfortunately, lies the problem for me: I currently reside in Peru. Dealing with two third world countries - I mean, dealing with one third world country and one recalcitrant company might result in brain death.

Good thing you took out that 3rd world crack or I mighta had to ..... , but really with the HD the odds of having a need to deal with a hardware issue are pretty small. The new Aura is the one that seems to have issues. Since the new Paperwhite is having similar issues it seems to be a manufacturing issue on the screen side with the new readers this year.

thanks all for your reply. Still haven't found it yet.
Most of indie book store listed the aura HD on their site, but when I write them none were in stock, and all talks about special order.
Time is crucial for me, must reach my friend on second week of Dec since she's leaving States to Vietnam. I can't afford paying too much out of my budget for international shipping AND the tax if I let them ship it directly to VN. Just so you know my situation.
I really want one, and still looking for re more days. Otherwise I will get a kindle paperwhite 2013. No choice. Kobo they're not doing a good job in term of reaching to consumer.

Classic example of a broken screen. Ereaders are far more fragile than tablets or smartphones. Most likely the customers fault though.

They are not horrible reviews just honest truth telling how delicate are glass screen on readers. Buyers should know this and maybe buy extra warranty coverage. Hopefully new plastic screens will solve this problem but they are easier to scratch so maybe they should be sold with screen protector.

Just placed my order with Greenlight for an Onyx HD, and will report back. Shipping is free via UPS Ground - I'm hoping for a 5 day turnaround, what with the surge in Holiday shipments coming.

Can't wait - I love the screens on my second-hand Kobos (a Mini and a Glo) and the flexibility in font sizing and margin setting.
