Tournament book series

Hello Guys,

i'm looking for a book series that is about or has a tournament like in the Hunger Games. I found the 2018-series so far but it's ony one book. I just finished the Hunger Games and was really thrilled about the tournament, even though it had a bad touch about it. can you reccomend any books?

Thank you and greetings!

The first thing that comes to mind is Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. Some people think that Hunger Games is a blatant rip-off of this book. I don't know, myself, as I've never read Battle Royale, but have heard of it.

I wouldn't say that the Hunger Games was a rip off of Battle Royale. While they might both be about teenagers fighting to the death, the feel and actual premise are totally different. You might as well say that both books are rip offs of the movie the Running man. The basic concept has been around since before Roman times and is the subject of a lot of movies and video games (mortal kombat anyone?)

Ultimately the Hunger Games is about revolt against oppression, Battle Royale? Not so much.

If you don't mind manga, then both the Battle Angel Alita and Battle Angel Alita: Last Order series have tournaments. There is a lot more to the series than the tournaments, but they are important to the story.

I agree with Pwalker, Battle Royale is less 'young adult' and more 'angry teen.' Not as cute and, perhaps, a stronger political message.

I haven't read it yet but perhaps The Maze Runner series by James Dashner?
