Kindle Store - Ipad Problems

Recently, Ios and Kindle app updates changed the behaviour of my wife's purchasing and library. Previously she would use the Kindle Store app on her Ipad to buy a book, then choose the "read now" option. This would open the book on the Ipad. Now she has to click on the "manage my kindle" option, go through the username and password routine, choose "read now", and then the book will finally open.
Any hints for returning to the original behaviour?

Thanks, Paul

I heard on NPR that iOS7 may not be working properly on older iPads. How old is your iPad?

I used the 'Kindle Store' link to launch Safari (there is no 'Kindle Store app' as such, Apple would not allow that), so it loaded the iPad optimized Kindle Store interface rather than 'Amazon full site'. When I purchased a book, it offered a choice to read the book in either the Kindle app or Cloud reader. When I picked the Kindle app, it launched the Kindle app. However, I had to download it from Cloud manually. Maybe I didn't allow enough time for the sync to do this. But in any case, it did launch the app as requested. I did not get redirected to manage your kindle in other words.

Note that the Kindle app should be registered to the same Amazon account as the purchase was made with, or this will not work.

Thanks. I did discover this approach but my better half asked the obvious question, "why do they update software to make things more complicated?" Seems like returning to the original behaviour isn't possible.

The reason it changed is that Apple wanted a percentage of the profits purchased through the Kindle app. I believe this happened with B&N app and all the rest of them. To avoid this, the book sellers removed the ability to purchase through their apps. Alas...
