Canadian Kindle Paperwhite

Hello all!

I was given a Canadian Kindle PW. It's not opened yet. There's no ads on it because that's only for US models. I have a PW for my US account. I'm fairly positive it's an International one because it has English, French, Spanish & Portuguese info on the back of it. I'm looking at my US box & the new one to compare.

Anybody know if a Canadian/International Kindle can be used with a US account? I'm thinking of selling it but don't want to if it can't be used with a US account. If it can, does this mean then that there are no ads on it if an American buys it for themself? And how can I tell if the serial number has been blacklisted or not? The person who gave it to me got it at an auction. A legit in person auction. It's still sealed. I just worry about it being marked as lost in transit and possibly useless for the next person. I obviously don't want that to happen.

Anybody have any ideas on this one? Thanks so much.

I bought mine on Amazon.ca, so I guess this qualifies as a Canadian Paperwhite, and yes, I buy all my content from amazon.com.

I use a Kindle Keyboard with ads (purchased in the US) with a Canadian address and my husband is using a Canadian Paperwhite with an American address. Both work fine.

All WiFi PWs are the same; there is no "US" or "International" model. The only thing different in the US is that the SO model is also available, which it isn't elsewhere.

Off topic but: the wifi PW2 in Japan has 4GB storage, so not quite the same.

Japan is the exception in all sorts of ways (eg they have separate accounts, rather than sharing the normal world-wide Amazon account).

Thanks for the assistance everyone. I ended up posted it online but someone is insisting that it is a CANADIAN !!! (all caps & !! are from them to me) and implying that if they buy it and it's different from what I've described it would be cause for an Item Not As Described dispute.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to handle that?

Just an FYI if anyone is interested - I reported the person to eBay for harassment & blocked them. Non-stop emails from the time I got home until now. Sheesh! He was losing his mind because of the MPN & UPC numbers and the fact that I blocked the barcode numbers in the photo to prevent any possible misuse.

My god! Some people have nothing better to do with their time but to annoy the living bejeepers out of others.
