Kindle HD or Nook?
Ok gotta ask
I have an ipad. I also have a paperwhite. I was looking at getting a nook or a kindle for a smaller tablet to watch Netflix but also read magazines and have colorful books for my children Help! ![]() |

I'm a fan of the e-ink Kindles but not so much so of the Fires. See my post (#6) in this thread for the reasons I recommend the Nook HD or HD+: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=226536

We like the Nook HD tablets....they do everything we want them to do. They are slimmer and lighter than the Fire HD, and they have the Google Play store. Not to mention the SD card slot, which is useful for storing books, magazines, movies, and music. We have 3 of them and 2 of last year's Fire HD. Me and my girls like the Nooks better.

Thank you guys!!
I was leaning towards a Nook. The only question I have is has anyone noticed a sluggish performance? My husband did some research and wasn't entirely convinced it had the power to run everything. |

Mine runs everything fine. Specwise, it's about middle of the road. There shouldn't be any problems running most things on it, although as always if you're doing advanced gaming that's something to keep an eye one. I've done image editing and some game playing though and both my Nook tablets work fine for that.

My younger daughter uses the HD+ the most, and she has hundreds of game apps on it, most of them run fine. The ones that don't, I think it's the crappy game, not the device.
However an unmodified Nook HD or HD+ will not run every single game in google play. Games or apps that require GPS may not work. The Amazon app store will not install. A simple root modification can correct that. |
