Find tool not working on "hyphenated" texts
Hello. I've noticed that the "find" tool does not work when the text has been "hyphenated" with the calibre plugin. It only works if you insert the hyphens between each syllable.
Anyone knows a better way? Thanks ![]() |

I guess that's the price you pay for inserting the hyphens in the text...

The adding of "soft" hyphens usually defeats the built-in search function of the reading app/device, as well. In fact: loss of search capabilities is pretty-much the top argument against riddling a text with soft hyphens. Seems it's an either/or choice. Which do you value more?

Since the plugin physically inserts hyphen symbols in the text, it will not work anymore. You would need to insert the hyphens in your search term.

Well, the software can always internally transform the search term into some kind of regex that ignores hyphens (and maybe allows for curly/straight apostrophes, etc.). But that is going to be slower and, as you see, software dependent.

I dunno, it might be the case. I didn't "tell" anything to the kindle or to calibre, they just work.

Yeah I might have been mistaken about that. Perhaps with calibre reader it does not work after all...
