Earl flexible screen Android tablet with GPS & solar pannel?

This is news to me, but it may be old news here, so, mods, feel free to move this to another forum.

As the title says, there is a flexible EINK screen Android tablet with GPS solar pannel: the EARL, does not seem to be in Production just yet, but up for preorder. I am on my iPad and can't view the flash content (who still uses flash on their site's home page?!), so may be missing some important points here, but if this is not a joke, it's the best thing since sliced bread!

It is neat. I am not familiar with it. A nice set of abilities.

It's old news, but nothing wrong with bringing it up again.

This device is meant for rugged outdoor use; hence the flexible panel. Standard displays would be too fragile. This device is loaded with sensors and radios for outdoor navigation; and the solar panels are there to keep it charged out on the trail. It's also waterproof and shockproof. These features don't come cheap either. $299 pre-order and $349 retail.

It was a Kickstarter project. I was one of the original funders. Not out yet, but still being worked on. I'm patiently waiting for mine....

What was the price for those who signed up during the Kickstarter phase? It's now $299 pre-order.

It wasn't a kickstarter project, though it was crowd funded at meetearldotcom. It was originally 249.00 and supposed to be out in Sept. of 2013. After months of no updates whatsoever from the Earl team they sent out an update on August 26th, 2013 that claimed the project was "LONG OVERDUE, BUT STILL ON TRACK". A lot of us that originally funded the project were tired of the lack of communication from the Earl Team and requested and received refunds at that point.

They've revised the delivery estimate for January, and have come out with a couple of updates since. I was an original backer, and have remained as one despite the delays.

read the update page. Easily replacable user battery - WOO HOO!

Some minor trims, nothing I can't live without. Hardware always takes longer that the project team thinks. I'm happy if it comes out by April 2014.

Sorry, all crowdfunding looks alike to me....

Thre were 2 price level $249 and $299. The $299 got you a much better topograpical map.

Pretty much my assessment as well. If I have it by hunting season 2014, I'll be satisfied. Any time before that is a bonus.
