Just a thought that came to me - is there any handy source for checking available updates for all the various Readers - and would they all be still available ?
Thought I might go through updating all my lot if it sounds worth doing .... mind you, I've never touched any of them before, and all are just fine ........

P'raps I'm better off leaving things alone !

the wi-fi enabled ones have a check for updates option, use that.it will download update directly to device and apply it for you.

For the x50 line, I believe there were only 2 updates at best to the original firmware. If you have firmware 1.0.00.14080, then you're up-to-date.

Firmware is included in Drivers & Software. (see right side to choose your model, etc)

Note: this is the Sony Canada site, I don't know if the updates would be any different for you in the UK (I assume the US and CAN are the same, but don't know if Europe has variations).

But, as others have said, if they are working and there isn't a new function added that you want/need, why bother updating?
