KT wont automount under Linux
I have been given a Kindle Touch (after yrars of using several K3B, had 5 killed under me) and I have a problem, in that the KT will not automount under Linux.
Symptoms: When I connect the USB cable, the KT goes in "USB Drive Mode", I know the computer (more or less) "sees" it since a # dmesg | tail gives me the following Code:
[77374.080320] usb 3-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=1949, idProduct=0004 [77374.080329] usb 3-1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [77374.080333] usb 3-1.3: Product: Amazon Kindle [77374.080337] usb 3-1.3: Manufacturer: Amazon [77374.080340] usb 3-1.3: SerialNumber: B011140822160MRN [77374.085463] usb-storage 3-1.3:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected [77374.085587] scsi19 : usb-storage 3-1.3:1.0 [77375.085006] scsi 19:0:0:0: Direct-Access Kindle Internal Storage 0100 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 [77375.085439] sd 19:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg7 type 0 [77375.093418] sd 19:0:0:0: [sdg] Attached SCSI removable disk I have tried to reboot it with ";urst" as per https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=178930 but while all the loaded books disappeared from the KT, it still wont automount. Any idea ? |

The usual suggestions when having USB issues: try a different USB cable, try a different USB port on the PC.
Do you have access to a Windows PC that you could try connecting the Kindle to to see if it mounts on that? That would help you narrow down whether the problem lies with the Kindle or with Linux. |

So I am beginning to suspect the problem could be with udev getting its UUIDs mixed up. Not good, since it seems the only way to sort this out lies with a complete system re-install... |

On a hunch, I went into ~/.local/share/gvfs-metadata and rm'd all the content of the directory.
And my KT now automounts as it should. |
