				need an idea

I need some plotting help. my character is a small butterfly-fairy who gets into trouble with her magic, in that it rarely works out the way she intends. I need one more story for my collection that's coming out in December. Can anyone suggest some trouble a little butterfly-fairy could get into? once I've got the seed of the plot, I can take it from there, but right now my mind is amazingly blank. |

I do not remember what you have done so far... how about a story about taking the easy way out... she uses her magic to short circuit hard work and it backfires making doing it right the second time much harder.

hm. that's a thought. Let me think on it for a bit. the theme of this book (although it's very vague) is overcoming fears, and not always in the ways you'd expect. What she's done so far is make a sunflower kitten that was huge, brave cold winds and hungry fish to get a pussywillow catkin to make into a better sized kitten, and befriend a firefly. |

Maybe the sunflower kitten gets mad about her making the better sized kitten and causes some damage to the butterfly fairy village as a result?

Do you think she might think she's lonely and creates a boy butterfly fairy? After doing so, he might turn out to be a bad idea. Good Luck! |

Falls asleep under the couch, gets sucked up in the vacuum, wings get tangled in the dog hair, gets dumped in the garbage and starves to death from lack of food. Well, you might save her just before that by surviving on the bread crumbs. Do not know how she gets untangled, your the writer, you figure it out :-)

I was thinking something along the lines of The Sorcerer's Apprentice where Mickey started the brooms carrying the water and it got out of hand.

thanks, all - I've bookmarked this page, because there are some great ideas when Butterfly-Fairy gets her own book. right now, she's stealing honey from a bee hive, and will shortly be taken to the Queen Bee for judgment. plus, she's all sticky. |

Why do I do these things to myself? 2 days worth of research on honey bees, beekeeping, hive management, and star thistles for an 1100-word story. *sigh* now to start the research on fireflies that blink in unison. Do they blink in unison all down the river, or across multiple trees, but others further down blink in unison in a different tempo? Wikipedia is strangely silent on these important details. |
