Paperwhite Gen(2) Release Candidates

What is this?
The Kpw2 does not (yet) have an end-user Jailbreak procedure.

These items are listed as "Release Candidates" for that reason, they may have to be changed once an end-user Jailbreak is found.

To install these packages on a Kpw2 requires that the Mobile Read developer's certificate (A.K.A: device jailbreak) must be installed on the Kpw2.

Currently, the only way to do that is by using the serial port.
Using the serial port requires disassembly of the Kpw2 and a fair bit of technical knowledge.
Not for the faint of heart or in-experienced user.

Candidates have been tested on at least one Kpw2 but are not intended for general use (yet).

Is there a nice chance that KUAL apps for kindle PW will work same way with PW2?

This is "end of semester exam week" for the owner of our only JB Kpw2. You know how busy that can be.

Will you be adding the screensavers hack to this list? (I think I read somewhere it had been repackaged for PW2)
I'll hopefully be able to hand over the first 4 digits of my serial number tomorrow, in case it's different.

If it's of any interest to anyone, my UK PW2 serial starts "B0D4".

It has been built and is being tested for the Kpw2.
NiLuJe reports that it has some strange behaviors on the Kpw2, so it isn't ready for the RC folder yet.

That is the only one that we have had reported yet.
So that makes it the same model as the initial USA released (Wifi-Only) devices.

We do need more reported Kpw2 model numbers, both for the KindleTool (packager) and the ID list at:

I'm always happy to beta test things knc1.
I've done it for Blizzard, Microsoft and various other companies/software, why not do it for something I care about like my Kindle.

Does that require the python package?

The current python package is too big for the app.box.com RC folder (which has a 5mbyte filesize limit).

I could switch to a "monthly paid" account, but if that archive could be shrunk or split . . . .
