How to convert to 7-bit US ASCII

Is there a way to convert with calibre to 7-bit US ASCII -- you know, the 128 characters (no high-order bits) used by simple MS-DOS programs, so that fancy apostrophes and quotation marks and em-dashes will end up as typewriter-style characters and accented characters will be replaced with their unaccented counterparts?

Look over some of the other options

You want the transliterate unicode characters setting under the Look & Feel section of the conversion dialog.

Kovid, this works for some books, but not others -- thank you! When I get a moment, I'll try to pin down exactly what's going wrong with the books it doesn't work for. Thanks so much!
