Glo How to create Shelves with Calibre

I found the link below easy to follow for creating Shelves on my Glo with Calibre.

The basic steps are; (unplug Glo from PC).

Create a Custom Column in Calibre; Shelves
Create the Shelves for Calibre under "tag Browser" in "Look and feel"; #Shelves, SciFi, NonFic, etc.,
Create the Shelves for the Glo in the koboTouch driver in Calibre; #Shelves, SciFi, NonFic, etc.,
Set the Import/Export to Automatic in "Sending books to devices".
(restarts are required to ensure that all changes take effect).

Edit the book/'s "Custom Metadata" with shelf label.

Calibre will auto sync with the Glo;
After a restart of Calibre.
When connecting the Glo to the PC if Calibre is open.

(have I omitted anything basic ?).

Hi, and welcome to Mobileread - it may have escaped you that there is a sticky on managing shelves with Calibre, here. If you think there is anything missing, then perhaps better to discuss it over there.

Thanks for the link, it adds value.

The reason that I posted the above is because I find it easier to understand a procedure when there's a overview first, followed by detailed instructions line by line, also, pictures assist in visualising the steps and decreases the number of written instructions required, hence the reason for that URL.

What would be nice would be to consolidate all the posts for creating "Shelves" into one cohesive post, beginning with a simple overview, then detailed instructions with pictures, alas, that is beyond my expertise, and authority.
