Question Dirty Aura?

This is going to sound crazy, but when I run my thumb over the edges of the Aura, I get black smears on my thumb. It's almost as if there is "ink" in between the gap between the screen and the frame of the Aura.

My hands are clean and Aura is clean as far as I can tell. I never spilled anything on it.

Anyone else notice this?

This raises an interesting question: Can a device leak it's ink? Seriously, if that is the case, it'll be the first case of it that I've ever heard of.

Is this the new Aura with the capacitive touch screen or the Aura HD with the IR touch screen?

David

No, not even when screen is cracked do you see black ink leaking out. Each tiny ball of eink screen has black and white pigment that is moved to form image.

In the immortal words of Groucho Marx, "Then don't do that!"

Sounds like a careful and in depth wiping with a clean cloth is in order at the very least. I'd ask for witnesses, and film it, just to be sure. You can never compile too much evidence...

Very unlikely. More like its a residue off the rubberized backing. This can be caused by some peoples skin that is oily and acidic. I for example cannot wear glasses that have rubberized temples for aesthetics, the acid and oil in my skin can dissolve this rather fast. IT could also be caused because you had a solvent or something similar on your hands from cleaning or working with something prior to the handling of the Aura. There are probably a number of reasons that your device is doing this, how and why is really speculation at this point.

Jack

LOL.
I have it too. It is a new aura, it wasn't there in the beginning but I see dirt like at the bottom left edges the next day. I wiped it off with a finger and see a black ink came off. I suddenly remembered this thread.

I took a cloth and wiped it off, something like a streak of ink like thing came out. Now the corner looked clean. I also saw on the other corner it dried off and looked like a scratch on the bezel.

Still something black if I wiped it off hard enough.

Weird. I should've take a picture....

@jackastor:
The black thing didn't happen because I wipe the bezel, It was there in the morning after I woke up from sleep. I can see it pooling along the edge.

Yes, my explanation isn't very good, but how I found out the same way as Noritje. I just happened to use my thumb because I was too lazy to get a cloth

FAir enough. Now I wonder how the screen is made in the new Aura. At this point your only choice is to contact Kobo. Prehaps you can post some pictures here of the issue. Good hi def and in color to show what your describing?

It might help for someone to identify what exactly it is that is at issue.
