Neato. Unfortunately, the pricing means it's a bit more than I can justify when I have a perfectly serviceable Galaxy Nexus. If it were seventy-five bucks cheaper I'd buy one right away and give my wife my old phone. At these prices, she won't fall for it though.

Well, considering that the hardware is on par with devices selling for 650+, I don't think there's much to complain about.

Looks good, comes with timely updates, and costs a fraction of what similar phones cost. Honestly, I don't see any reason for anybody to buy an S4, HTC One, iPhone or similar.

The choice is not between buying this phone or an S4, HTC One, or iPhone. It's between buying this phone or keeping the one I got 14 moths ago. I'm not disputing that it's value for money. It is not, however, affordable for me.

It depends entirely on individual use. In the case of the Nexus 4 (as it were), its lack of LTE was a deciding issue for me, personally, and I'm still not sure the Nexus 5's price point dissuades me from wanting the following:

1. a removable battery and SIM
2. a microSD slot with at least 64GB capacity
3. USB audio enabled out of the box
4. 24/96-192k audio (not on the S4, but on the Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2).

Gorgeously designed, compellingly full-featured and ingeniously priced, the Nexus 5 (or a later iteration) might be the cleverphone I choose when next I'm in the market, but brand/product agnosticism is one of the best things about Android specifically and the current smartphone market generally. We have lots of excellent choices.

That said, I'm grabbing a Nexus 5 the moment there's a significant sale (i.e., when the new model's ready!).

As soon as Google slashed $100 off the N4, I jumped on it. Since I use mine as a tablet, LTE wasn't a consideration. I would've preferred having either a card slot or a 64GB version; but still, I'm quite happy with the 32GB ($249) I have. It'll keep me going for several years.

edit: oops - I meant 16GB. The N4 only came in 8GB & 16GB models.

If it's $349 for the 16gb & $400 for 32gb. That is what I paid for a used 16gb 5.5 inch screen Note 2 from Amazon. With an added in 16gb card I'm up to 32gb with the option to get a larger card. Like TM this will keep me going for several years.

At least here in Germany many people don't seem to know that Google has an own line of devices.
One time I was even asked if it runs Windows after I told my phone is a Google Nexus.

Nice, but it's getting a bit pricey. I would have liked to see the 16 GB model for $250 rather than $350.
At any rate, I just got a Nexus 4 16 GB, so I should be good to go as far as phones, provided I don't break it.

I don't like the new transparency. It's a bit weird.

CDMA is the big deal in the Nexus 5, at least for me. The ability to use the phone with Ting, and a price that is half that of the other newer phones, makes it a no-brainer for a new superphone. Nexus 4 won't work on Sprint service.

I'll probably do the same thing with the N5 a year from now -- though I do have to be able to use it as a phone. For one thing, a second smartphone is good to have in an emergency (and I don't own one at the moment).

They don't make a Nexus 4 32 GB model, do they?
That was one problem I had with it.
