I haven't tried it (and probably won't). Reports are that stats for side-loaded kepubs has been removed. So I voted for Fail.

Sigh. So you are prepared to judge a f/w release without even trying it.

Anyway, the stats are poorly implemented (Instead of accessing them directly from the menu while reading, or from a listed book, its on the worst place ever. And once you finished reading a book, you cant anymore know how much time it took you to finish it, since the stats is now showing you the next book in the list with 0% readed...

Can anyone tell if the problem with SD card not caching covers is fixed ?

Sorry, a bit off-topic here.

On an Aura HD and viewing an kepub, you don't get the pinch zoom. You do get the double tap to bring an image to full screen and you can zoom it even further using the slider, rotate etc.

The image storage in the 0-255/0-255 directories would have been better done with hex names for the directories in my not so humble opinion. So I like 00-FF instead of 0-255. Blame it on a misspent childhood learning to count to 1023 on my fingers.

In my limited testing, the pocket integration works quite well.

What are the files in the stacks directory for?

Some test images look better now.

Reading statistics seem to available from within an ebook only for .kepubs but I never look at them anyways so not a big deal for me. You can still find them for the current active book by tapping on extras/reading stats on the home page.

I do like the return of the return to previous whatever from within a book.

Regards,
David

David, are you referring to a beta test of the firmware for the Aura HD?

No. I used the KoboRoot.tgz file from the .zip file downloaded from the link used by an Aura when it upgraded (special thanks to Gerald Combs, the creator of Ethereal/Wireshark). The upgrades folder contains some code specific to the Aura and an attempt to upgrade using the full package resulted in a time to re-image the internal uSD card moment.

Using the KoboRoot.tgz file alone has worked on one Glo and one Aura HD. Unless you like being on the bleeding edge, waiting for the official release is likely to be a wiser choice.

Regards,
David

No In this instance I will have to wait, as much as I would love to be on the Edge.... I will accede to wiser judgment such as yours and it pains me to say it PeterT.
Its just when you said you were using it, it occurred to me that wait No one else mentioned it being out. So thought it best to ask. Just wondering now though if any issues you may or may not have with it will vanish with the proper update?

I see names are displayed for the votes. Interesting results.

I can not vote till I get the update. But if the stats are removed from side loaded books and doing so would be another one of KOBOS idiotic moves and makes no logical sense, it will be another epic fail. Mind you I wonder what the kobo is looking for that is missing from the side loaded books to prevent them from being counted. Perhaps this missing item could be added to the converted kepub book.

Rather stupid poll since the vast majority of Kobo users don't have the 2.9 firmware. Conduct the poll again when they do.

What is the percentage of Kobo users that have 2.9 firmware installed?
