Firmware 2.9.x
As expected, it looks like Kobo is releasing new firmware to coincide with the release of the new Aura.

So far, this release has been limited to the new Aura's.

I figured I might as well start the release thread...


I'll update the Direct Links to Kobo Firmware first post as information is received.

And here is a link to the Kobo Bugs thread.

As at just now, the DeskTop hasn't changed, it's still 3.2.3 from June 7.

I have an Aura HD, and sometimes use Wifi. Will it try to auto update? I'd rather stay with 2.8.x unless I decide to update.

2.9.0 will probably be a new Aura only release, to fix any issues in the factory firmware.

At some point, we'll get 2.9.1, or if it is delayed enough, 2.10.

Kobo has stated on the beta list that 2.9.0 is only going out to the Aura. They state they are still finishing the new function for the other devices.

Yes, the desktop app will update the database to the latest version even if it doesn't update the firmware. The update to the calibre driver for this and 2.9.0 is already checked in and will be in the next build. In the meantime, you can safely set the "Attempt to use newer firmware" (or something like that) in the driver configuration. This will work with no problems.
