Long book titles and issues with kobo and Calibre
Just wondering if anyone is having any issue with Calibre and long book titles on the kobo where the directory information is cut short /misspelled on Calibre transfer to the Kobo?

The books still work you just don't know you had any issues unless you look in the directory and see the corrupted directory names.

Try searching the calibre forum for an explanation of the file / directory name truncation; it is there and I'm sorry to say that is has NOTHING to do with Kobo at all..

When sending a book to the Kobo devices, the driver limits the full path to 185 characters. The names of the cover image files are generated using the path for the book. The book file name has to be limited in length to prevent problems with this. Hence, calibre mangles the file name to fit this.

That's fine as far as that goes, but why does the directory name get screwed up? Its completely random it seems , I use a save to directory called ebookshere and have seen several variations such as ebokhre,ebookher,ebkhere are 3 examples of the directory name being screwed up.

Any suggestions as to why that would happen?

Sorry, I should have stated "mangles the full path". I haven't looked at the algorithm used, but I assume it treats all parts of the path equally. And how it does this will depend on how many characters it needs to remove.
