i pad or android
Hi
I'm on the move a lot and not always within WiFi range or able to connect to my PC at home. Calibre is set up on my PC Win 7 at home. I use Calibre to keep track of books i have and have already read. This info I don't have with me when away from my PC Is there anyway I can utilise when I am away the info I have on Calibre using either my i pad or my Android Smartphone? |

![]() You will need to open up a port forward on your router to your Calibre host AND solve how you deal with a dynamic IP on your broadband connection. |

Thanks got into the settings for the Home Hub (router). Even tried advanced. Got Port forwarding but the list of games and applications didn't sow Calibre. Loathe to do any more as I don't want to mess up my settings if I don't know hat iam doing.

You should be able to define your own: 'Calibre port 8080 (or whatever the setting in calibre. ) then forward that to your machine (set it for reserved for MAC <address> :in another section of the config or use a static IP)

What do you kow about Calibre Companion. Is it a safe app? More importantly does it work or just a waste of time?

I don't know how it would do on smaller (phone) screens. It has 2 modes: 1 uses the Content server (in a nice alternate to the WEB interface) The other connects as a (Wireless) Device (looks like a wired reader to Calibre). You use Calibre to push books at the device, just like you would for a USB connected. The BIG feature is the ON DEVICE catalog of what has been sent to the device |

As another point in Charles Haley's (mobileread username:chaley) favor... he's one of the regular contributors to calibre's source code. While I'm not sure exactly how much of his code has been approved for inclusion, I would assume it's quite high.
