Song of Fire and Ice price drops
I received an email today from an ebook price-tracking site (thanks bibliosaur.com!) that George R. R. Martin's A Feast for Crows (Song of Fire and Ice #4) was on sale for $4.99. It looks like the price is good at Amazon, B&N, and iTunes.
Further investigation looks like the previous 3 works in the series have also had significant price reductions (now $5 -$6) at the same retailers. Looks like the most recent book, A Dance with Dragons, is holding fairly steady at $12. At first I thought the price drops might be in conjunction with a new season of the TV series, but a quick check shows the new season doesn't start until 2014. Perhaps it's secondary to "new" pricing practices in the wake of the ebook publishing settlements? Last edited by glnnjnsn; 09-11-2013 at 02:26 PM. |

Most of the stores have new contracts with Random House (Random Penguin), the publisher for the series, that allow discounting. Titles from these publishers have been dropping quite a bit over the past few weeks. As you say the new season of HBO's AGoT doesn't air until spring (and S3 home video not until Feb 2014) so I don't think that's a reason at all.

I'd been planning to pick up book 5 when I finished book 4, but after noticing a price drop the other day, I purchased it early in case it isn't a permanent drop. Bonus: I got a special purchase credit that got me a zombie novel for $1, too. Score.

Amazon has the 4-book Kindle collection for $15.72. That is quite a bit lower than the $30 it was just a few weeks ago. Nice to see but I still won't read the series until its complete, haha.
