Have you decided which of the new readers you would like to buy
Before the lucky people already have their new readers, which one have you decided on or lean towards whether you plan to get one or not.
I'm thinking Sony, but won't decide till I see them in the store and may not buy one this fall although I am itching to. While I am known for a good bitter trashing on occasion, would be appreciated if we can focus on the positive as much as possible. Not mandatory of course, but I am looking for reasons to buy myself. I went for "Other", because I'm waiting to see what Barnes & Noble do with the Nook. Supposedly they're going to announce a new e-ink reader this year, but it probably won't be until October or November.
As for the others:

I quite like reading on the Nexus 7, though I also still use the Glo quite a bit. I don't really feel the need for another reading device at the moment, but if I decide to get one of the new models, the Kobo Aura would be my choice.

I voted None. My Kindle 3 is still going strong, so I see no need to replace it. However, were it to break tomorrow, I'd go with another Kindle for sure. I've had nothing but good experiences with mine, so I have no reason to try something else.

I can't vote as I'm undecided. I'm waiting for a combination of user feedback on here, and viewing them myself in person before choosing between the Kobo Aura & the Paperwhite. No light on the Sony, so not of interest. Although, who knows, I might decide neither are a suitable replacement for my Kindle Keyboard and choose none....

Kindle Paper White baby.
The PW is the only one with the Carta screen, who knows for how long but for the time being, Amazon is the only one with the new screen. |

I didn't vote because I really don't know if I should buy a new reader this year.On the other hand I do want to retire my buggy Glo...
-Amazon kindle.Good, solid device but I really can't bother with all the Amazon c@#p(non-epub,no microSD,only 2giga memory,"ecosystem" e.t.c.). -Kobo.Difficult choice.I loved the glo, until it started to freeze and glich like a crazy after the new "updates".If I can avoid the company in the future I will. But on the other hand with Sony out of the game again this year I really can't see any viable alternatives. -Sony.I already had the T1,I don't want an expensive rerun. -Nook.I am waiting for something new and finally an opening to the European market. -Cybook.Good firmware(at least with my Orizon),but without a solid english/german dictionary is a deal braker.I loved the greek UI and the file manager. -Pocketbook.I really like the firmware(from the reviews),but I am reluctant to invest again in a small company(after the not-so-stellar experience with my friends Odyssey). |

i would like a built-in light and would be leaning towards Kobo or Sony, but Sony is so expensive and appears to still be lightless at this point. Kobo it would be for me.

None.
My KPW is not perfect, but I've found out how to nullify the limitations that are most important to me. No EPUB: Calibre conversion. No page numbers (in non-Amazon books): Count Pages plugin. Not enough fonts: Use Alt Fonts trick. If I get a Kobo, I'll bump into other limitations or problems, and need to restart to resolve them again. I'd love more storage or an SD-card, but can do without. A TBR pile of 150 books on the device is plenty. |

I'm tempted by the new Kindle Paperwhite but since I already have a Kindle 2, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Fire, iPad, iPad Mini and nook Touch with light, and an old rooted nook Color that I haven't charged in over a year and they all do a fabulous job of letting me read eBooks... I just haven't been able to justify it.
It'll have to catch me on one of those oh what the heck if I don't need it I'm just going to buy one anyway! kind of moods. Oh, and I also can read books on my iPhone. I seriously just do not need another eReader. No matter how tempting. ![]() |
