Curious: Who still owns the original Kindle?
My first Kindle was the Kindle 2.
I never latched onto the original Kindle, as I had recently purchased an RCA REB1100 instead. If you own the original Kindle, do you still use it? Merely curious. Don |

I still own one. Since it uses an SD card, I use it as a backup for all my Kindle books in their original DRM form (all purchases automatically go to the K1). My Calibre liberations are done via the K1.

I still own one. My husband still uses his. I kind of stopped using mine when I had eye surgery and needed the larger fonts the Kindle Keyboard has, plus it had voice guide, which was handy. I just haven't gotten back into the habit of using the K1 again. It's been about 5 months now.

I passed mine along to my nephew, but it's still registered to my account. I'm seriously thinking about sending him a basic Kindle with Wi-Fi and having him send me the K1 back. I lost my K3 (keyboard) and none of the current crop of Kindles appeals to me. I'm hoping a new model might appear around Christmas time.

I still own one, but it's been retired. The screen was so much better on the K3 I couldn't pass it up.

I still have mine and it still works. I use it once in a while and when I do, I am reminded of how it was the best ergonomic shape for my hands for reading.
The large buttons are such a pleasure to use with my bad wrists. None of my other kindles, including the paperwhite give me such a pain free reading experience. I think its because I never had to move my thumb of finger to change the pages. Just a slight down press. With the PW I have to rotate my joints and over time I do feel fatigue. And the shiny bar is magical. ![]() |

Never had one. I had a Cybook Gen 3 at the time, as it was smaller, thinner, and easier to get in The Netherlands. In the end, I still didn't like it, and sold it.
It took me about 3 years and the release of the Kindle Touch to look into ereaders again. I bought the Touch, and liked it, and only wished there would be some kind of built-in lighting. Along came the Paperwhite, and I upgraded. For me, the 6 inch ereader is quite done, and I don't really see any upgrades in the near future to a different 6 inch reader. If I upgrade, it will be to a 7 or 8 inch reader (and I'll probably keep the KPW as well, to take with me on public transport.) |

I don't "still" have mine, because mine was actually bought recently. Lately, I haven't been "upgrading" in the traditional sense, because all of my new ereaders are the older models of their specific brand. I bought it because I was fascinated with the look of the device, and now that I own it, I actually really like it. It does feel old compared to the newer models, but it's still a pretty solid ereader if you don't want it to do anything fancy. The only complaint I really have with it is the inability to change line spacing.

I still have mine, and intend to keep it always, just because it was the first Kindle.
