Hi, I am about to go on holidays and need something fun for a loooong plane flight. Looking for some light cozy mysteries - light because I find I can't concentrate well when flying.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
If cozy means little to no violence, this is it. If it means no complicated plot, ditto. EDITED: Not quite as non-violent, but perhaps in the direction you are asking for, and easy to try out, is The Moonstone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Moonstone http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/155 Last edited by SteveEisenberg; 08-16-2013 at 11:55 PM. |

Pushing Up Daisies: A Dirty Business Mystery by Rosemary Harris is pretty good so far.
You can't go wrong with Janet Evanovitch or Lois Greiman for being laugh out loud funny in parts. http://www.cozy-mystery.com/Authors-E.html Is a pretty thorough and well done website. Helen |

Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen series would definitely count as cozies. First book is Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder.

Ellery' Queen's "The Roman Hat mystery" is a good read. It's available in paper and kindle format.

Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is very good. Don't go by the movie, the book is much much much much better! The Grandma Mazzer character is hilarious!

All of the Agatha Christie novels would fall in this category, too, especially the Miss Marple ones.

You might try Jan Dunlap's Bob White murder mysteries. Bob White is a birder, and all of the books have a bird watching sub-theme. I believe the first is The Boreal Owl Murder.
Interestingly, they do not appear to be currently available from Amazon for the Kindle, but they are available for Nook from Barnes & Noble. |
