Do Narcissists Know They Are Narcissists?

Think of your friendly neighborhood narcissist: status-seeking, grandiose, loud-mouthed, brash and flamboyant. Have you ever noticed how he brags all the time, not only about his astronomical I.Q. and bulging pectoral muscles, but also about the fact that he is narcissistic? It's as if he is proud of it.

Lots of psychologists have theorized that a lack of self-awareness is a hallmark trait of narcissists. My personal experience with narcissists does not seem to support this. It seems to me as though they are not only aware of who they are, but also embrace it.

What does "meta-perception" mean? And how does it contrast to "self-perception?"

According to Miriam and Webster the defintion of a narcissist is: love of or sexual desire for one's own body. Actually I much preferr my wife's body.

I'd say self-perception is more reality based, meta-perception is more fantasy based.

Well, narcissistic men tend to be beautiful, which I like, but they don't have much time for their ladies, and that's a pity. I never met a really stupid narcissistic man though...............yet

In 1964, Yepes performed the Concierto de Aranjuez with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, premièring the ten-string guitar, which he invented in collaboration with the renowned guitar maker José Ramírez III [5].
