My e-book readers already hold more books than I can read at once.
![]() Cool drive though! |

I am curious as to how they would connect this to a tablet. Through the Mini USB?

This looks interesting, but they should really figure out a way to have them installed in the tablets themselves. It's fine to carry data around, but I don't see myself ever being tether to a drive like that when I want to use my tablet.

It's not a stand-alone drive to be attached to a tablet, it is as best I can tell intended to be installed inside by OEMs/manufacturers just like in a laptop. A couple more links:

Just tape it to the back with electrical tape.

![]() I wouldn't want any moveable parts on my eReader. It may be thin as a piece of paper, and it may have shock sensors, but it is still mechanical and prone to failure if you accidently drop the device while accessing the disk. |

Still way bigger than NAND, mSATA or NGFF and the additional weight on a tablet is not insignificant. Should work quite nicely for Ultrabooks, though.

But its biggest obstacle to overcome will certainly be the intent of manufacturers to sell you online storage and/or charge you 10-20x their cost for an upgrade. That's why so many devices are so woefully under spec'd when it comes to memory. 64GB should be standard on tablets. |

You know the more I think about it the more I would love this in a Surface. No need for a memory card slot anymore so long as they keep the USB port.
Noise could be annoying though. |
