Spot the idiot!!! MEEE

Hi there guys and girls. Just thought i would give this a try before my nook simple touch and Mac book pro go hurtling out the window at a rapid velocity!!!! don't think insurance would believe me! Anyhow please help. I have been a avid calibre fan and user since ebooks first came out. i had an Sony E-Reader for a long time and replaced it many times as the odd accident occurred. However eventually my wife bought me a Nook simple touch + and a 64Gb SD card to take to work. HOWEVER!!!!! For some reason when i load up all my books on to it, calibre tells me that i have put on 330 books, disconnect after ejecting it and all that stuff and then my nook tells me that i have 303 books on it. Reconnect and the books are not on the device! am i going nuts or what? Please help, i have about a week and am then off on the road again for a time. i bow to your superior knowledge and hope someone can help!
Thanks
Jim

Perhaps there are duplicate books? Calibre can keep track of identical books, same author and title, by adding a numerical unique ID to the books. But most likely your device can't do the same.

For clarification: When you reconnect your device to calibre, it does not show any book, or does it show the 303 books?
When disconnected again, the books are showing up again on the device or are they gone?

Hi guys, thanks for the reply @ Adoby, no, they are not duplicates sadly, if it were then i might have understood it, but no. @ bump. When i disconnect it states that all the books have been transfered across fine (green ticks and on memory card A) then i disconnect it and cant find them, Re-connect and it goes through the list of items on the card, and then some are on there negative green tick, and some are not! ideas?

Disconnect? Are you using Eject Device? (And waiting Until the ondevice column goes away?)

I think 4 steps happen when yo attach a device + send books

1) detect device
2a) fetch existing device metadata
2b) scan device for changes
3) Send: books (displays ticks) BUT
4)Send updated device metadata (this can take a bit depends on how many books are on device)

If you pull the plug early , this file is not written or damaged

With the NST when you eject it, after calibre say the device is safe to remove, you have to wait for the nook to finish updating, with a large number of books wait two to three minutes to disconnect to the cable.

My experience is that the NST does not like to have large numbers of books loaded at a time try with ten at a time disconnecting with each transfer.

If this is a new sd card then use a card reader to transfer the books using connect to folder in calibre, then install the card into the nook.
