Authors names

Is there any way to have the author's last name appear first, followed by a comma and then the first name? I've looked at author sort (in the tag browser), but couldn't find anything, and then somewhere I changed {fn, ln} to {ln, fn} (I don't remember where I was allowed to do this - obviously somewhere under Preferences). It had no effect, though. One thing I have accomplished is that I got all the books by a single author grouped together - now if I could only make that list alphabetical! (see earlier post).
Any help would be great.

Preferences Tweaks offer some options FOR NEW ADDITIONS:
# Author sort name algorithm
# Use author sort in Tag Browser

There is the Quality Check Plugin that has 'Fix(es)' for Authors and initials that exist in the data

I have an author name problem. I am adding huge numbers of books and want to check the original name against the calibre entry.

My problem is I can't figure out how to get calibre to display the author alphabetically NOT using author sort.

I only want to do this temporarily in the library I created for adding new books for a visual verification against the list of files.

You can do this by clicking alter tag browser>manage authors, tags etc.>manage authors
Click on button at bottom sort my author

Authors single out in the search key values of the library, running, trying to add to the same rating - does not work. Probably write wrong, but in reference books Calibre, detailing the procedure is not.

Just click on the header for ratings, then on the heading for authors. That way the books will be sorted on authors primarily and ratings secondarily. Select the books you want to update using Ctrl left click and shift left click. And update metadata using edit bulk metadata.

I read what you wrote, and I thought that I was already stupid. Then I realized that I wrote too simplistic. This is not a normal search in caliber - is the string "Search Expression" when creating the library, as here - http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/virtual_libraries.html . And here is where I get to write the correct names of the authors, which should be included in the library (I make it through CTRL), but when you add the ratings, everything stops working. I'm already through and\or written by a comma and a period. If he considers rating, then mix in the library by other authors. The trouble ...

Try to use paranthesis to group the search criteria, like this:

(author:"Jules Verne" or author: "Bram Stoker") and rating:>2

Then you can build complicated searches.

I assume that you mean:

Code:

(authors: "Roger MacBride Allen" or authors:"Isac Asimov") and rating:false

This will display all books by either author, but only if they have no rating. (Zero stars).
