Odd sort when device first connected

This has been around a while, and I just got around to investigate.
When I first connect my PEz, The 'On Device' column appears with a '^' (steals and resorts the current sort)

Observation 1: The sort is NOT on the location as expected by the mark
Observation 2: the sort appears to be {id} decending
Observation 3: clicking the 'On Device' column header DOES now sort by location

Run calibre in debug mode its likely there is some error happening.

Here is the log, I sent a few books as part of the action.
I don't see anything, but then I am not the Maestro

I dont see anything either,this happens only with this device or with all devices?

I only have 1 non-MPT device available (the K4 is traveling with my Wife). This is XP

I just moved the Library disk over to My W7 (64 bit) Laptop. That behaves as expected. Here is that Log. Same Device, same Library (just no book transfer)

Hmm, well I'm at a loss. You'd need to run from source and do some in depth debugging to proceed further.

I never succeeded in getting 'run from source running' (chaley tried to help me a long while back). I seem to be a lost cause in this respect.
