Hello! I have a question about converting file to kindle format using Calibre software. After file converting, I can read converted file in Kindle device (Device is Kindle Paperwhite), but I cannot use kindle dictionary (when you press on a word during the reading to identify definition of word). It says, “There are no dictionaries on your device for this book’s language”. If someone knows solution of this issue please help. Thank you.

It is not broken..
I would get the same kind of message trying to read a German (de) book on my US k4 (besides my not really understanding German ) You need the correct dictionary for the books language (declaration in the book file) If the TEXT is in English , and you have a English (en) dictionary, then the book has the wrong language metadata and you need to EDIT that. |

If you looked at the book using Edit book, then you'll see that anyway. You do see Calibre metadata in Edit book when you edit an AZW3 file. The only way to be sure is to use KindleUnpack and look at the OPF from there.

You don't have to convert AZW3 to ePub. All you need to do is use KindleUnpack to decompile it and you'll be able to see any Calibre added stuff in the OPF.
That line about Calibre 1.47 was added by Calibre. When you open an AZW3 with Calibre's eBook Editor, it does add stuff to the OPF like it does on a metadata update for an ePub. The only way to get around that is to unpack the AZW3, make your edits, and put it back together with KindleGen. But then you do have to split out the Mobi gunk. |
