... did almost everybody in the main forum just freak out and go completely crazy over some sort of whiter-than-white, blacker-than-black display?

Awww... "shut up and take my money", I guess

PS: FYI, the PW2 firmware version seems to be 5.4.0. Not that it means much, but they stayed with the same major version.

It was even worse last year. And then we had blob-gate and the spotlight effect over which there was tremendous hair-pulling and gnashing of teeth, along with the requisite dose of conspiracy theories.

The next few weeks should be entertaining to say the least!....I wonder what will be 'wrong' with this one that the usual cast of characters will anguish over. Seriously, how good does the contrast have to be before your eyes can't tell the difference?
My wife finally succumbed to peer pressure and has decided to take the e-reader plunge, so at least I'll get to play and compare.

I'm not normally one to upgrade just because there's a new model out, but I did for once, and from the posts in the main forum, it looks like the screen is what it should have been the first time round really.
Had to ask for a PW1 replacement as the screen on the first one I received was a right dog's dinner, the 2nd I got was acceptable so kept it. Hopefully no such problems again.

And so yes, therefore pretty excited really given that I look at that screen for a good 5 hours a day.
