suppress 1st page break

The epubs I create do NOT have covers, and they're not commercial books.

Each 'book' has 2-5 centred lines containing title, author and institution names, followed the first H1 heading followed by text, followed by another H1 heading and text...

I don't want a pagebreak between the top lines and the first H1 heading, but I would like a pagebreak before subsequent H1 headings.

How can I achieve this without editing the EPUBs?

ps : I create the EPUBs from DOCXs but I don't think that's relevant

h1:first-of-type { page-break-before: avoid; }

in extra css should do the trick, although for this kind of thing you really need to be using an editor, not calibre.

Unfortunately that didn't do the trick, but no matter, because this does:-

This is better for me because it puts the issue into the input document along with everything else.

BTW some of the ticket links in the latest release notes are broken

They aren't broken, they point to private bug reports, because the bug reports have copyrighted material attached.

gotcha - now you know there's at least one person who reads the release notes from cover to cover

The section page breaks work perfectly
