text replace during conversion

Hi,
I can't use the "search and replace" function during the conversion from pdf to epub. I just want to remove the hyphens from the text (the heuristic function itself does not work), but if I put just "-" in the search field and nothing in the replace field, at the end of the conversion I get blank spaces instead an empty string.
example:
originale text: for-cing
what I want: forcing
what I get: for cing

Have you tried the Heuristics conversion options?
