Question having trouble converting w Calibre

Hi everyone

I have just bought my Paperwhite a few days ago, and I'm using calibre to convert PDFs to MOBI. The thing is, it works properly on most of the books, but w some of them, it does nothing. I have the mobi file, but i can't zoom on it or I cant change the size of the letters ( in fact I can, but nothing changes after it). It appears with a few books, most of them are good, but with these, I cannot read them cuz the letters are too small. I guess there's a problem with the pdfs. Any solutions? Thanks for your help

some book pdfs are really essentially photographs of the page, so when you convert, you still have the photograph of the page as a jpg or png.

pdfs don't tend to convert well anyway.

Here, is the calibre forum. Specifically: MobileRead Forums > E-Book Software > Calibre > Conversion. HarryT already moved the thread to the conversion sub-forum of the calibre area. So you are reading it in the calibre forum.

If you review the Sticky posts at the top of this forum you will see, Read this before Posting PDF Questions. This post may provide insight into PDF conversions.

The problem you described was already accurately explained by BeccaPrice as a book of images of type. That is why your typical way of increasing the font size did not work.

There is not anything you can do with Calibre.

It might be possible to use OCR software to convert the book to a more amenable format, but that is likely to introduce a significant number of errors due to recognition failures. How well OCR software works is highly dependant on the quality of the scan that was used to produce the images, and is never perfect.
