Best settings for 1:1 ePub to AZW3 conversion?
What's the best Calibre settings to make sure the ePub I convert to AZW3 stays as close to a 1:1 copy as possible?

My guess would be that if you went to Preferences - Common Options and clicked Restore defaults that you would be at the setup that manipulates the conversion the least.

Disable font size rescaling under Look & Feel, that is the main one. Other minor ones, under Structure Detection, set insert page breaks before to / and disable remove fake margins.

Yes, because it doesn't change anything. As I understand it the plugin simply repackages the internal KF8 html files in a ePub wrapper.

Sometimes cleanup is required afterwards. This can be done in Sigil.

I've never had an AZW3 > ePub via KindleUnpack that did not need some fixing so it would be ePub compliant. Use epubcheck 3.0.1 to check what needs to be fixed.
