Watch a Movie or Read a Book?
This has probably been posted before.. but my question is .. if your wife/husband had a good movie to watch and you had a good book to read (on your e-reader) or print, which would you choose.. book or movie with wife/husband?

Depends on the book, movie, and spouse.

Just curious to see how many folks picked a book like myself.. Reading a book is a movie in my head.. I can see everything happening in 3D - HD color. No TV required.

Since I don't have a TV *or* a wife, guess I'll be reading a book

Anytime my wife actually WANTS to watch a movie, I'm watching the movie. I can read by myself. Can't always watch a movie with my wife...

For me, it was easy. I don't have access to cable. Nothing on standard channels that interest me. If I want to watch a DVD, there's always the laptop. Except for work (my resturant seems to always have a sports channel on), I haven't sat down and watched TV in more than 4-5 years. Don't miss it at all.

I like television. I enjoy sitcoms, dramas, and movies. At the end of the day when my eyes are too heavy to follow the words on a page, I like to drift off to a bedtime story.
I read both for education and entertainment, but I do that mostly when I am waiting for something somewhere where I cannot watch what I want. |

I can never understand the disdain some people have for TV and movies, as though any book is automatically superior to any moving image. For me it all about the story, and there can be good stories in any medium.
I would never give up my TV, any more than I would give up my books. |

The movie with my wonderful husband. I can read the book some other time. We, also, don't have access to tv, just a screen that we can watch movies on if the mood takes us. We haven't watched tv for over 6 years now and don't miss it at all.

I will usually choose the movie to be the S.O. for a while. If it's constant - like a movie every single night after work or similar, I'm likely to suggest spreading out the enjoyment so that I can have some reading time as well, but otherwise I really enjoy watching a movie together. It's an experience that can't really be replicated with reading.
If the question is what I would I choose between a movie and a book (removing the S.O. from the equation), I would say that I dedicate more of my recreation time to reading than to watching movies. But some movies I will make time for - like the new Star Trek movie. |
