can I add two or more book of the same "format family"?

Say I have 2 PDF, one bigger and the latter smaller for I have reduced it with some Acrobat option. Or one OCRed with imagine and another one with ClearScan. Or I have some epubs, one with stripped images or justified text, and another one with the images or else. Can I keep all of them under the same record into the library or would any addings delete the previous same format book? Thank you.

You can only ever have one instance of a given format (file extension). Trying to add a new one of the same type replaces the current instance.

You could perhaps rename one of them to have a different file extension, then you could add it.

Thank you. Even though I think in future releases this could be interesting to add, with some descriptor for every same kind file instance, where you can put some notes such as "OCRed", "full res", "small footprint" or sort.

It does not seem to work. I renamed the secondo file with the extension .cpdf instead of .pdf, but when I added it to calibre (into the metadata window) it replaced the old one.

I will create a separate record, as yet.

You must add the file(s) via Add Books->Add Files to selected books

You may have to select All files in the Mac open file dialogue, on Windows its set to show known ebook file types only

Attachment shows example of two completely different pdf's in the same book folder
