Looking to upgrade from a 2nd generation kindle

I really want a frontlit ereader, but I think I will wait for the next gen PW.

In the meantime, I was wondering if the nook simple touch was a worthwhile upgrade over my 2nd gen kindle? Radioshack currently has the NST for 20 bucks; I don't mind spending that for an interim upgrade.

Will the contrast/text be better than my 2nd gen?

Thanks!

It should be a bit of an improvement, your Kindle is 2 years older than the NST after all (Kindle 2 released 2009, Nook ST released 2011). Plus, the Nook will have a faster processor, it has a touch screen as well as page turn buttons, and you should get better battery life from it as your Kindle 2's battery life isn't likely to be optimal given it's age.

For 20 bucks, its got to be worth the upgrade, even if you only use it for 6 months while awaiting the next PW. Though bear in mind you will probably need to buy an SD card for it (onboard storage for non-B&N books is minimal) and you will need to convert your books to epubs to read on it.

Book conversion and a SD card won't be a problem. My main interest was if the display would be an upgrade (however small). The contrast on my kindle 2 is rather poor, and the text seems hazy.

Thanks for your input!

The nook ST uses the Pearl display, a generation newer than the Vizplex display of the kindle 2. It has better contrast.
