calibre interface

I really like calibre, but is there any way to view all of the book covers instead of the list view in calibre, similar to Adobe Digital Editions or Kindle?

All 5000

Calibre has the cover browser (that black box icon with a curved arrow).
Preferences: Look and Feel: cover Browser
allows you to run it as a Detached Window and/or increase the number of covers shown (useful if you have a LARGE wide screen display)

The cover browser only really shows one full cover and several covers at an angle, and it is very slow to scroll through.

I would like to be able to see all of the covers, as I can more quickly find a book that way.

Calibre does not have a Bookshelf view.

Ctrl-Right Arrow (or Ctrl-Left Arrow) does a 10 page Flip

Others have expressed an interest in this view too. It would be a nice cosmetic addition to calibre, but truthfully if you want to "more quickly find a book" the book list and the search bar are quicker than any book view.

Bookshelf view would be a great addition to calibre.

Sometimes, I remember the cover of a book, but not the title or author.

The problem is that the developers do not see this as a high priority so although it is on the 'nice to have' list nothing has happened. It would probably perform abysmally (although this is not proven) on larger libraries which may be a disincentive for some users.

Calibre is Open Source so it needs someone who has coding experience and sufficient enthusiasm to consider developing it as a standard Calibre feature.
