Creating new database without copying books

Hallo!
I have this question: I have many ebooks and some times ago I created a database with Calibre. This useful program, starting from my original library in wich all books were in random order, created a new library with a distinct folder for every author.

Well I loose the file guide of this archive so in my HD now I have the new created database but not the file guide that Calibre needs to work. If I want to generate it again, I'm afraid that the program again try to copy the files from my library in random order, to a new library.

Is it possible to "use" the library previously created by the program instead of crating a new one?

Hope to have been enough evident to describe my problem.
Thank for Your answer.
