Does anybody know a trick to wake my PC up...

before I wake up in the morning so it can download my Calibre newspapers for me? I'm always running late in the morning, and the NY Times sometimes downloads very slowly, so many mornings, I leave before Calibre is done downloading. It would be great if my computer could wake up an hour before me and get this done. Are there any programs / tricks that can get it to do this?

You can schedule a task to happen at the time you want the PC to wake. This could be starting calibre or some other process so that the computer wakes. One of the task option, at least in Windows, is whether to wake the PC from sleep to run the task.

Exactly how to do this depends on the OS. What are you running?

Hi -- thanks David. Yes, I've been googling this morning and found this:

http://www.howtogeek.com/119028/how-...automatically/

which I've also set up with this:

http://www.sevenforums.com/software/...ndows-7-a.html

so that my PC doesn't go to sleep in the middle of the download (the NY Times is Slllooooowww).

I've got it scheduled starting from tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed that it works.

Thanks

That's exactly what I was thinking of, so that's a good find. And thanks for the pointer to "Insomnia". I have gotten caught by that as well when downloading big files.
