Calibre Back button not functioning properly

Hi!

We have noticed that in larger e-pubs (like 1000 pages or more) the back button does not work as expected. The steps to reproduce are:

1. Open table of contents and select various titles. And then select e.g. chapter 18, chapter 17, chapter 18
2. Click back. It should bring you to chapter 17, another click on back to chapter 18. But what it happens is nothing. In some cases it even brings you to a wrong page.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Platform: Windows 7, calibre v0.9.19

I cannot reproduce this. Opening a 2300 page epub and clicking chapter 10, chapter 11, chapter 10 and then clicking back three times takes me to chapter 11, chapter 10 and the start of the book.

You need to attach a file demonstrating this issue.

Unfortunately I cannot attach it.

Another characteristics of the epub in question is a pletheora of links (an estimation: xy*100.000). May that influence the behaviour?

I dont see why it should, forward/back has no connection to the number of links.

Oh, and the exact number of pages is 6402 with ~100 titles in the toc.

New tests bring the following results:

After randomly clikcking in the TOC and links, noting down the chapters i clicked, i discovered the following:

First 7 visited chapters/links worked as expected. After clicking chapter 8 and hitting back i got to link 6 instead to link 7. Then on the 14. visited link it happened again and on 21 visited link again and on 28 link again.

To sum up:
Visited links [1..8] when i hit back i come to link 6 instead of link 7. Back jumps over each x-th link, where x is a multiple of 7. E.g. visiting links [1..29] back never opened up links 7,14,21,28.

There is indeed a bug where if you click back and then click a link and then click back it will skip the last link clicked, this will be fixed in the next release.

Were you able to reproduce the "every 7th link" bug too? Are they related?

What's the estimated time of arrival of the next calibre release?

Saw you allready commited the fix to the sources. I checked them out and tried them out. The first impression is that it solves the bug!
