Calibre startup very slow
Calibre 0.9.4
QuadCore, WinXP

On startup Calibre takes ages to load.
Calibre does load eventually but it can take up to several minutes and more.
Once it is loaded it operates fast and without problems.

There are almost 30000 entries and the db is still growing. I wonder if the database has become too big.

If so what can I do?
If this should cause no problems what else could be the reason?

Most likely it is the formats column that slows you down.

I've only a fraction of the number of entries you claim, but mine is very slow, too. As you say, minutes go by before you get the list of books. As it has never been anywhere near as slow before, and I haven't done anything except maybe add a book or two, I figured it had something to do with the Calibre version.
