E-Readers with folders?
Hi all,
Since I'm all about LCD, I know little and less about the current ereader market. My friend is after an ereader, though, and he wants to be able to put his micro SC card into the ereader and read books straight from it -- with one very specific request. He currently has his ebooks organised into regular folders, and he'd like those folders to appear in the ereader. If I'm not mistaken, neither Kobo nor Kindle can do this, but I'm not sure of which ereaders can. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

You need to look for brands such as PocketBook, Onyx, Bookeen.

The Ectaco jetBook Lite should work, although it has trouble when the folders are too deep within one another.

The iriver Story HD does this very well. Maybe he can find a used one.

The Cybook Orizon has the Folder View option that allows the owner to see the folders they put in the device.
It has two flaws, though, in my opinion: 1) if you put the folders on the SD card, sometimes the device has problems showing you your latest read. Maybe it doesn't bother your friend, but think that if you haven't finished the book and the Orizon shuts down, when you turn it on, you can't open the book from the display menu, but you have to go back into the folder and open the file again, and usually you have to remember the page you were reading. This, though, doesn't happen if you put the folders on the device memory. 2) if you have a lot of files in a folder, the device is very, very slow at showing them. For instance, sometimes it took me 2 minutes to chance page and if in a folder you have 5 pages that shows the files (if I remember correctly, a page can show about 15 or 20 files, or less if you prefer), going from page 1 to page 5 is not fast. This though didn't happen when I had few files in a folder, so it depends on how your friend organizes their folders. |
