Possible way to get into dowwload mode for Paperwhite

Hi! I wanted to underline this thing: to get into usb-download mode in the kindle fire, you have to short a pin on the motherboard to ground (shown in the picture attached). Since the paperwhite is so simple to open up it is possible that the same thing is necessary for the paperwhite, and they didn't provide a way to do it without disassembling. I don't have a Paperwhite (yet) but please someone look in this direction.

The e-ink display Kindles are completely different hardware.
Different SoC built by a different manufacturer (Freescale rather than TI).

About the only similarities are that both use an ARM instruction set core and electricity.

Although temporarily disabling the eMMC (by shorting a non-fatal pin) during bootup may cause it to fall to USB Downloader mode. Similar to the "pin-shorting" debricking method used on WRT54G routers to get OpenWRT on them back in the day...

All we need is a "sacrificial PW" and a daring soul to experiment on it...

I knew it, I just meant the principle might be the same, nothing else.

Lot of luck with that request.
We have yet to get anyone to probe those two pins that are the suspected serial port and report back success or fail.

Besides not enough time, I am not quite ready to "fuglify" my PW bezel by peeling it off. But "someday RSN"... (Probably when I *NEED* to debrick *MY* PW).

It may also be possible to force it to attempt a network boot.
In the process loading a kernel and/or root file system image of our own choice.
