				A little no obvious help

			Hi to everybody:

I would want to do 2 things in Calibre I don´t arrive at. First: when I edit the metadates from a book with "e" it appears several fields f.e. tags, ids, date, published....and finally language. I would like to add another one called: awards. Is it possible there? I know that I could create a personalized column but this is not what I want. Any idea? Second: in the same place, in language, could I limit to three, the loads of language that appear here. I don´t know where Calibre stores all of these languages to delete them. Sorry if my english is not very refined. Thanks in advance. |

You can't add metadata, because the file format does not support it.

Don't know about your second question. |

The list is all available language coded. It get revised frequently.

(it is included in the program code. You would need to 'Run from source (your hacked source)'. Most list will scroll to the first occurrence of the letter typed, that usually gets you close.

You could try changing Preferences | Behaviour | Edit metadata (single) layout to Compact. This will put everything but the covers on the edit screen, so if Awards is a user added column it will appear on the edit screen.

To add to PeterT's suggestion - I use the Compact View - it made things a lot easier since I discovered it about a month ago.

I added my own Languages column (Zhargon) with only 4 values - I was making too many keyboard slips with the big Language list. I'd like to hide the Languages item from the Metadata Edit window, but ... ![]() BR |

Thank you to all of you.

The conclussion seem to be that they are no direct solutions to my requests: -no possible to add a new metadata field -no possible to limit language I try something with the suggestions from PeterT (I didn´t know that trick) and BetterRed. If anyone has another idea it will be welcome. Thanks

The point someone was trying to make is many formats will not STORE custom metadata and many devices won't even use all of what is stored ![]() Calibre, The Catalog and Content server will all display the custom column data. |
