Books detected in calibre library but not seen in kindle.

Hi,

im new to the e reader scene and think i screwed up somehow.

i was tinkering around with my kindle PW, deleted a book from the device(not through calibre).

but the deletion was not detected in my PW, i could still see the book in my list after the deletion.

so i restarted my device and now i cant see all my books in my PW already.

what should i do? should i reset device and sync again?
next time when i want to delete books, must i do it through calibre?
am i not supposed to restart device once i have synced with calibre?

calibre does nothing except copy files to the device. There is no "syncing" involved. You can delete files/reset your device, add files to the device to your hearts content outside calibre.

so is there any reason y im not seeing the books in my kindle?
i can see some of the book classified under 'docs' though.

just wanna know what i did wrong so i wouldnt commit the same mistake again.

resetting your device should do the trick. If not delete everything from it and resend.

i have resetted and resent all the books, but it is still not showing up in list view.

ummm, i tried deleting everything and resending. aint working.

i think there is an issue with sending large amounts of books at one time.

Kindles take time to index large numbers of books, you have to be patient.

And to expand a bit on what Kovid just said, the PaperWhite is even trickier, because it will completely halt indexing if you happen to actually be using your device

. (Specifically, it apparently halts indexing while the reader is open).

Cataloging (books showing up) should be faster, though, but it's not instantaneous either.
