Right now, it's the 10" tablet. But in 5-7 years, will that still hold true? |

I will get a 7" or 8" tablet the day they come out with a screen that makes me want to replace my e-ink. But now I use my tablet for browsing, magazines, newspapers, videos -- all tasks even a 10" can be too small for.
As far as portability goes I don't see any difference. For me portability means "fits in the front pockets of my jeans", and with virtually no bezel 6" would be the limit for that --- perfect size for a phone. Now when I carry a bag or briefcase I can carry the 10" just as well as the 7". So for now I have no use for a 7" device whatsoever. Over 5-10 years hopefully we will have new shapes, foldable, rollable, whatever that help us overcome these limitations. |

I voted 7" because of the portability. Truthfully, though, I haven't played with a 10" so can't really compare. But I love the 7" size. The Nook Color has a bigger body than the Kindle Fire 1, and that is one reason why I prefer my Kindle Fire over the NC.

What will sell more?
7inchers, easy. Cheaper and more portable. |

I voted 7-inch tablet.
I think that's the sweet spot for portability and convenience. Kind of like a thin paperback. Also lighter and cheaper than 10-inchers. |

I voted 7" - I think it is inevitable that tablets & phones converge - and 7" would be the logical size for this combination.

I think 10" for tablets.
Personally I think 7" is perfect, but with phones getting bigger I think for many 7" is too close to phone size to motivate a buy. Right now many still have phones with 3,5 -4" phone screens and want something a little bit bigger but still portable. For those the 7" is perfect! |

I couldn't say; I am surprised by how many tablets have been sold to date, to be honest. The rock-bottom prices of 7-8" tablets will probably be a deciding factor in their favour, though.
To my mind, there is very little added benefit to owning a device that exists between the smartphone and the laptop. I could not justify buying one. |

I think it will be 7" until the price of the 10" comes down in price. For most consumers, it comes down to price. That is almost always the deciding factor.

For consumers, 7". For business, 10".

I think both have their place in the market and functions they are better for.

Obviously, it all boils down to personal preference, but for me, the sweet spot is 7". I find it perfectly suited to watching videos, reading and surfing the web. Not the optimal size for viewing comics, but I rarely do that. I value portability, so the smaller size is great. I can tuck it in the inside pocket of a jacket. I cannot go all the way down to smartphone size; trying to read on my phone drives me batty, and I only do it as a last resort. My eyes are great, and I can reduce the font way down, but turning the page every two seconds makes me crazy.
