Amazon Kindle for the UK perhaps?

Amazon.co.uk carries a number of accessories for the Kindle but as we all know the device is not available here.

Does anyone know anything at all about a possible launch of the Kindle in the UK any time soon. I don't know whether to put off getting a Sony reader to wait for a Kindle or not.

I like the idea of being able to subscribe to Newspapers on the Kindle.

There are also 3 UK papers available for subscription. There have been rumors of a UK launch but nothing solid that I've seen. I'll keep my fingers crossed (except when I have to type... or sleep... or a few other things).

That might well explain why there are "several" new Kindle versions rumoured to be in the works: one of them might be Kindle 1.0 with U.K. compatible Whispernet hardware.
