Still Life with Murder by PB Ryan

I picked up Still Life with Murder free from Smashwords awhile back, and just recently got around to reading it. I enjoyed it so much I bought the omnibus edition of all the books in the series and tore through it in a week!

If you like historical mysteries, I would suggest checking this series out. The book is set in Boston just after the Civil War, and features an Irish governess who is employed by one of the wealthier families in Boston. In the first book, she is trying to solve a murder and prove that the son of her employer (who happens to be the black sheep of the family) is innocent of the crime.

Thanks for the endorsement. I got this book a long time back as a freebie also and haven't even found a place in my TBR pile for it yet. Might try to insert it somewhere in 2013.

It's so funny you should mention this now 'cause I just now completed the final book in the series (finished it less than 30 minutes ago, actually), and I loved all the books! I bought the complete series (except the first book, which I got for free) back in March last year (they were cheaper than now, and Kobo was very generous with their $1 off coupons then ) but only got around to reading the books this past weekend. They were so engrossing, I devoured all 6 books in no time (started on Friday and finished today ). I definitely second the recommendation

I read this series for the first time earlier this year. (After having them sit on my ebook reader for a few years.) This is a great series!

I guess I'm in a minority in this one. I found it very unsatisfactory: unrealistic characters and a contrived plot. I don't intend to read the rest of the series.

But I know it had some good reviews, so if you like that sort of thing, by all means give it a go.

I got Still Life With Murder as a Kindle freebie back in June. I liked it so much that I bought and read the entire series. It's a winner for historical romance fans.
